Broker’s Comments

GRAMPUS II is a Swan 47 Mk I model. Hull Nº 47-016. This Sparkman and Stephens design was in her day a good and successful race boat.

Throughout the 1970’s and later Swans raced at the highest levels. But today this classic design is more at home as a fast family yacht – still capable of great performance and she is very sea kindly.

The layout above and below decks is well thought out. The saloon seats 8 yet still allows through the boat access. The aft owner cabin is self-contained with its own head and shower.

She completed her spring service ashore in May 2024, including painting the topsides with Awlgrip, and will start her summer sailing in June, participating in the Argentario Classic regatta in Italy.

Owner’s Comments

My wife and I have owned Grampus since 1995. The first owner was from Zurich, the second owner was Alberto Folonari from Brescia, who acquired other Swan yachts, a 57 a 60 and at the end, always with the same skipper.

We have sailed around the Mediterranean area only in summertime. Mainly in the Tyrrhenian Sea. We have been several times in the Greek Ionian and Aegean Sea and in the Turkish Aegean coast.

Usually, the boat is spending winter close to our home near Napoli in south Italy.

We have always tried to keep the boat in good condition and up to date. As you read below, we made refits at different times:

• In 2020 we did a refit of the mast and rigging (over € 12,000 spent).
• In 2017 a total refit of the engine, and a new shaft line with flexible joint, new radice seal instead of the packing gear.
• 2010 the new 12mm teak deck, new portholes, a new generator, a new electric furler, a Holmatro hydraulic tensioner, new autopilot and other work.

A new owner takes over an iconic yacht from a great designer and a famous shipyard. They will enjoy a comfortable, safe and fast cruising yacht – and some racing too if they wish.
