Managing Broker Filippo Martini was born in Rome but spent most of his childhood in Tuscany – sailing from the smallest dinghies to the IOR and ULDB classes and eventually becoming an FIV sailing teacher at the SCO in Orbetello (Maremma, Tuscany).
More than ten Italian championships in the Vaurien/Strale/Laser classes and two European Baltic Cup championships won aboard CARANGO IV seemed to clearly indicate his future career on the oceans. But then a degree in Economics with a specialisation in Marketing and a sudden job at J&J interrupted his love affair with the wind and sea.
He writes: “Twenty years of managerial experience in the world of US multinationals followed, from early steps in marketing and sales, to becoming a VP, but my love for the sea and sailing would not cease forever. At 50, a turning point: I left my job and began working with Pierservice-PF Yachts and Cantiere del Pardo.
Since 2014, I have been a maritime broker – licensed and registered with the CCCIA (Italian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Crafts).
Since 2007, I have been living on my sailing boat in Cala Galera Marina.”
His strengths in the market are his full experience as a consultant in a wide variety of sectors and his choice to become a shipbroker more out of passion and love for boats than for work or life opportunities.
Filippo became a boat owner 40 years before choosing his current profession, so he has first-hand experience of what people really need when buying or selling their boats. As a consultant he works with a ‘slow-food’ approach, starting with the process of understanding and getting to know the client’s needs and then considering and ultimately determining the ideal boat based on their needs/budget.
