The owners and builders of Ocean Voyager 70, TARA, have built a series of Explorers that have won hearts and minds the world over. Through the years, we have always been excited to see the next project, knowing that she would be a capable world cruising yacht born of years of long-distance cruising experience and know-how. TARA is easily managed by a small crew and has the range and capability to enable her to cruise far in safety and comfort.
Her basis is a robust GRP SCRIMP hull with sailing boat lines, and with some similarities to a previous Ocean Voyager – ACHARNE, which was a successful marriage of sailing yacht design principles with good sea-keeping and fast passage times.
TARA has been fitted out with generous outside areas, a large and comfortable pilothouse, a lower saloon, and practical accommodation for up to 10 crew. With a range of 1,400 nautical miles, she has long legs, and her aluminium superstructure and light, airy accommodation. She has a practical flybridge area and can also be easily handled from within the deck saloon.
TARA is in turnkey condition and ready to cruise.
Ocean Voyager 70, TARA was built to specifications based on the experienced gained from thousands of miles of cruising. The builders have well over 100,000 miles of world cruising in both sailboats and power boats. TARA was conceived to be the ultimate 2-person cruising yacht, but her 5 staterooms layout and her very voluminous interior give the owners the possibility of catering for family members, friends, or crew. She is designed and constructed to be a rugged trawler yacht.
Ocean Voyager previously built, cruised, and sold ACHARNE, an 80’ sailing hull converted to a long-range powerboat. The boat was wildly successful and has since crossed the Atlantic around the Cape of Good Hope and circumnavigated the Indian ocean. From that experience TARA was born, to be more luxurious with more accommodation but still the trademark of the builders, great access to machineries, and commercial quality.
Sailing hulls make great power boats. They are faster, more efficient, less windage, more comfortable at sea, and easier to handle in adverse conditions.
The original hull was built by a prestigious New England shipyard. The hull was then shipped to Canada and completely re-designed and completed based on the experience with ACHARNE.
