The success of the Windy 29 Coho can be attributed to its exceptional balance, light steering, and true deep-V hull, making for an enchanting experience even in tougher conditions. Fitted with Volvo Penta’s super-efficient and ultra-reliable single Volvo Penta D6-400 common rail diesel, this hull is perfectly matched to the power plant, delivering effortless high-thirties cruising and 43 knots when conditions allow. Not only does the single D6-400 provide strong acceleration and a super-smooth power delivery throughout the rev range, but as a single installation, it places the weight directly over the keel. This keeps the boat in ideal trim at high speeds, ensures soft landings, and makes handling predictable and safe.
The helming position is sensational, with everything falling to hand and plenty of handholds and bracing points. The Coho 29 GT takes care of the entire crew: the two forward seats are supportive, well-bolstered, and extremely comfortable even in challenging weather, with the screen offering just the right protection to feel involved and sporty while keeping light spray off the dash. The side screens extend well aft down the cockpit, protecting all passengers in the aft cockpit area, which is deceptively sheltered and a great place to chat and relax. The large aft sunpad not only provides a great spot to catch some rays but also ensures that engine noise is well muted—this is a very quiet boat at speed (please refer to the DB figures in the performance chart). Windy has cleverly addressed storage for fenders, warps, and general boating clutter with a series of moulded cockpit bins and lockers, while the canopy folds neatly away into a moulded recess when not in use—considerable thought has gone into this design.
So, the Coho is primarily about handling, ride quality, and the cockpit, but her cabin is well-designed too. The fixed double berth is practical, with reading lights and ample storage space beneath. The cabin features a warm satin walnut finish, a small but well-designed galley area to port, and separate heads to starboard. This example has a heavy spec and is highly usable for exploring, so please call us for further information and to arrange a viewing.
With the 29 Coho being an ideal choice for many, CERTES is unlikely to be on the market for long!
