Broker’s Comments

NOONMARK VI is still in her original ownership. She has had the same captain from the very beginning who was also involved in the construction process.

She was set up for performance sailing and she has an extraordinary regatta record achieving excellent results in regattas and offshore races around the world.

  • BVI Spring Regatta, St Maarten Heineken Regatta, Spi Ouest, Swan Europeans, Ford Cork Week, Swan American Regatta & Newport Bermuda Race.
  • She has completed in 3 Swan World Cups in Sardinia, finishing 3rd, 4thand 4th making her one of the most successful racing Swans.
  • In 2002. she won racing class at Antigua Race Week, together with the Swan Caribbean Challenge Trophy.
  • In 2010. she won the Newport Bermuda Race in her class & was the overall winner of Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Trophy.

During her life she has always been maintained to a standard rather than to a budget. She has a recent teak deck from 2017, and new rod rigging including turnbuckles 2019. All systems have been well maintained and regularly updated as you will read for the specification. When not in use she has been stored ashore and covered.

The Swan 56’ is an iconic cruiser racer from one of the best yards in the world, and NOONMARK VI is a particularly fine example of her class.

Owner’s Comments

NOONMARK VI was the first Nautor Swan built to comply with MCA Cat 0 standards for chartering. Her design incorporated four watertight bulkheads and a modified layup to strengthen the hull and reduce any potential hard stress areas. These upgrades were designed and overseen by Naval Architect David Cannell during the build process. The deck hardware, specified by Tony Bertram for racing loads, was all supplied by Frederiksen, with Lewmar winches.

NOONMARK VI is not just a performance yacht; she is also an excellent cruising yacht and has sailed many thousands of miles around the world, mostly with a crew of three. However, she has also completed several long-distance passages, including from Bonaire through the Panama Canal to the Galapagos, and from Tonga to New Zealand, with just two crew members.

The furling genoa and easily reefed mainsail with lazy jacks allow for short-handed sail handling whilst maintaining good cruising speeds, with 200-mile days being quite common. The Yanmar main engine provides an economical cruising speed of 7.5 knots effortlessly. With three fuel tanks and an additional cruising Tectank located in the center cockpit, NOONMARK VI has a cruising range of around 750 nautical miles under engine power. Her generator, watermaker, fridge, freezer, and ample storage made the longest passage—17 days across the Pacific—very comfortable. She handles well under autopilot, both under motor and sail.

When NOONMARK VI is in full cruising trim, the cockpit can comfortably seat six at the table, as well as around the saloon table below. Below deck, she has three separate cabins, each with its own shower and head.

We have enjoyed performance sailing aboard NOONMARK VI, and she has always performed well. However, looking back, there have been some standout moments—

NOONMARK VI was the overall winner of the Newport to Bermuda Race and the coveted Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Trophy, making her one of the few British yachts to achieve this.

Winning the Antigua Race Week Race division while racing against an identical sister, the American Swan 56 LOLITA, with match racing every day in classic Antigua Race Week conditions of 15–25 knots, sunshine, and 29 degrees Celsius!

NOONMARK VI is a beautiful yacht on the water with performance to match. Even after a long day of cruising or a tough day of racing, when the yacht is washed down and you walk or row away, it makes you feel good just looking at her!

NOONMARK VI has been well maintained by us since launch, but several upgrades have been made that we believe will benefit her new owner. The teak decks have been replaced, making her look like a new Swan after 26 years. Additionally, the original deep racing keel was replaced with a custom-designed torpedo keel, which reduced the draft to 3 metres, greatly improving access to anchorages and harbours while also enhancing the yacht’s overall sailing performance. We also replaced all the standing rigging and had a full inspection of the mast and boom by The Rig Shop, ensuring more years of trouble-free sailing. Furthermore, we replaced the original primary coffee grinder system with 3-speed electric winches, making the sheeting of the genoa and spinnaker easier when sailing short-handed.

NOONMARK VI has been a great success and has met all our expectations in terms of performance, safety, and comfort. She is only offered for sale due to the owner’s ill health. We hope that her next owners will have as much fun aboard her as we have.
