Top 7 Yacht Sales Insights for February 2025

The Northern hemisphere is in the depths of winter. There is snow on the ground in the Chesapeake and on the Island of Orust in Sweden, where the sea has iced over. It is not yachting weather! In our other territories in Spain and the UK, it is grey, wet and cold. However, against this backdrop and as we look forward to Spring, we file our February Market Insights;

1. The small yacht market is showing little or no activity. Not our specialty but those with yachts in that segment are delaying moving up until they can sell what they have.
2. The enquiry rate is down in the traditional quiet period between skiing and the start of the season.
3. Existing clients are viewing yachts and are considering their options but are not rushing in with offers today.
4. Current sales in progress are all holding and we are closing a solid number of sales negotiated in December 2024 and January 2025.
5. The American market is moving, but after the excitement of Mr Trump’s election, the concern about tariffs is causing buyers and sellers alike to pause with their plans.
6. There are limited numbers of new listings coming to the market. The Covid buyers that everyone thought would sell and move out after the crisis are staying in yachting but are in no hurry to move up.
7. New yacht sales activity is slow. Yacht owners are pausing before putting their yachts on the market because the price delta between pre-owned and new is significant.
