Berthon has a rich history, records indicate that the Berthon Shipyard in the UK has been in existence since Roman times and even gets a mention in the Doomsday Book. Berthon in its current form has been continuously trading since 1877 and remains at the forefront of the marine industry today. Berthon’s brokerage history goes back 1935. This part of the business staged its first boat show in 1955, attracting 120,051 visitors! The business has been trading and evolving ever since and its operations now span 4 countries across 2 continents.

Berthon’s brokerage history goes back 1935 when their first advertisement appeared as ‘Lymington Shipyard – Motor and Steam Yachts’. The first South Coast UK Boat Show took place in 1955. It attracted 120,051 visitors. For the boat show Berthon did not exhibit but ran an advertisement in the yachting press headed ‘BBC’ and explained that “we do not go on air, but we build yachts, launches and tugs”. The business has been trading and evolving ever since and its operations now span 5 countries across 2 continents.
