Island Packet 440, JESSICA MEI is an ideal bluewater cruising yacht with her traditional exterior, cutter rig design, modern construction techniques, and is very much capable of crossing oceans. With a draft of only 5ft – she makes it look easy when entering those sought-after anchorages. JESSICA MEI has benefitted from extensive maintenance and recent upgrades include new rigging, an Axiom Pro navigation system, AIS, electric winches, inverter and Eberspacher heating, providing hot air to each cabin and the saloon.
You should definitely check out the video –
On deck, the roomy cockpit is safe and comfortable while on the stern the large swim platform features twin molded steps, a hot/cold shower and a foldout swim ladder. The cockpit has full-length cockpit seats with cushions, dual deep cockpit lockers and line storage bins. Her custom-built arch offers tender davits for a RibEye Aluminium Rib, 6hp Yamaha outboard, two solar panels and a windvane.
JESSICA MEI is cutter rigged – with a Hoyt self-tacking staysail boom and in-mast furling, Charleston spar rig with Harken furling on the staysail and genoa. While this offers a powerful rig with 1131 sq. ft of sail area, she can still be easily sailed with limited crew. In 2018, the owner replaced the rigging along with halyards, sheets and all running lines.
Down below, she has plenty of space for her size offering a clever layout with comfortable accommodation. Forward you have the owner’s stateroom, which uses the full beam of the interior giving you a spacious cabin. The berth is to starboard, allowing easy access on either side and further, either occupant to get in and out of the berth without disturbing the other! In the bow, there is the owner’s stateroom private head with a separate walk-in shower.
The Island Packet 440 has a large main saloon with long sofas to port and starboard with storage under and behind along with cabinets and shelves above. The starboard sofa coverts to a berth and the well thought out IP dining table stores up against the bulkhead when not needed, freeing up the main saloon space. The forward-facing navigation table has seating for two, a large chart table plus a generous nav./electronics panel with a 2019 Raymarine Axiom Pro 13 chart plotter.
The galley is located aft of the nav. station and is “U” shaped with lots of storage and counter space, giving the cook room to move comfortably yet in safe conditions when underway. There is a Force 10 3-burner stove/oven, microwave and dual Frigoboat keel cooler refrigeration/freezer system. The aft stateroom is located to port and has a large offset double berth, with plenty of storage. The aft head is nearly as spacious as the forward head with a separate shower stall and toilet. A door is conveniently located near the companionway in the main saloon, plus an additional door for private access from the aft stateroom.
Overall Island Packet 440, JESSICA MEI is in a very good condition, has had one owner since new and is fully equipped with all the cruising amenities that you would want.
