The Axopar 28 has been a massive success since the day it was launched, combining a sensationally good twin-step hull with a versatile cockpit, all protected, in this case, underneath a neat T-Top. This example is a very lightly used, high-specification 2016 model that was ordered and specified by her current owners. She is the open T-Top version, offering sparkling performance thanks to her twin-stepped hull, plenty of fresh air for her crew, and also a practical full canopy system to enclose the main helm area when needed.
She features the very functional aft cabin DayCruiser option, with a double berth for overnighting—or excellent storage for day boating. The forward bow area table offers extra seating, with useful stowage lockers beneath the smart Mandarin cushions. The neatly enclosed heads compartment is integrated at the front of the main centre console and is accessed from the bow area, providing a marine WC.
The T-top structure really adds to the usability of this 28, allowing the canopies to be hung from concealed tracks and offering shade beneath. There are six individual seats under the T-Top, with the helm and co-pilot seats swivelling to face aft, which makes it a sociable area with the rear four seats. Atop the aft cabin is a sunpad with Silvertex cushions, making her a truly business-like tool for spending time on the water.
Powered by a single whisper-quiet 300HP Mercury XL Verado outboard, the Axopar 28 cruises happily in the low thirties and tops out close to 40 knots—so this hull can really travel. Close-quarter handling and docking are made easy by a powerful Sidepower bow thruster, and her steering is light and sporty. While the majority of the boat is finished in easily maintained white GRP, her deck has a full Flexiteek covering, offsetting glare, and providing good grip underfoot.
This boat is freshly polished and is being sold with the huge advantage of a triple-axle De Graaff SB4500/6 road trailer, fitted with a recovery winch. She can also be kept protected over the winter months under a full 2023 cover. Her underwater hull was professionally Copper Coated in May 2024 to keep it slippery when kept afloat, and with only 89 hours showing on her Mercury VesselView display, she presents very well.
For bang for the buck, ease of maintenance, and super practicality, the Axopar 28 is very difficult to fault!
Despite the low engine hours, the boat has been a much-loved family boat enjoyed on adventures in and around Carrick Roads and inshore coastal trips. She was a perfect step up from our Rib. All in all, an extremely versatile, safe, and comfortable boat.
From her first season until 2022, she was in the water from late July until end August. Otherwise, she was in a specialist boat storage facility in Penryn, Cornwall. For the seasons 2023 and 2024, she was anti-fouled (2023) and copper coated (2024) and on her mooring until Autumn. For the winter of 2023/24, she was cleaned, winterised, and stored ashore on her trailer and under her bespoke, full winter cover (included in the sale) in Mylor. Overwinter 2024/25, she has been valeted, overhauled, and stored ashore by Berthon in Lymington.
