SARAH BELLE III is #003 of the Fleming 58 series from 2014. She has the B layout, featuring a day head in the pilothouse, a large mid-owners’ stateroom with en-suite heads and a walk-in wardrobe, a generous twin VIP cabin forward, and a good upper and lower berthed guest cabin. These two guest cabins share a large head with a separate stall shower. She is in sparkling condition with a stunning interior that looks virtually new, and she is massively well equipped for either Mediterranean or Northern European cruising.
With modest engine and generator hours, she has been cherished in this ownership and has new covers and upholstery in the large flybridge, which is fully screened for use in less clement weather.
She also has many great additional features, such as two remote steering stations, hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, a lovely saloon with seating to port and starboard, a Quokka hot tap in the galley, reverse cycle air conditioning, the option of Kabola heating and of course stabilisers.
SARAH BELLE III is a beautifully maintained motor yacht with lots of capability that is easily handled shorthanded. She has been set up to provide a very comfortable and usable platform for cruising and living well aboard.
We come from a sailing yacht background; our last yacht was an Oyster 54. We started to think about motor yachts because we no longer wanted to be at the mercy of the weather, spend less time managing the sails, and consider our growing family. We always considered the Fleming 58 a gentleman’s luxury cruising yacht, and when this yacht with the midship master cabin configuration we had our hearts set on came up for sale, it was exactly the right time for us to make the switch from sail to motor.
Being able to steer the boat from inside the pilothouse or from the covered flybridge in wet and windy weather was more appealing to us than having to put on our foul weather gear, as we often had to do when sailing! We also wanted comfort, more space for our young family, and more room to entertain. The Fleming 58 fit our needs entirely.
The space on board and the brilliant layout make everything seem so roomy and airy. Even when all the cabins are occupied, no area feels cramped. The saloon area and galley are perfect for entertaining, and having a guest head just off the pilothouse means the master cabin suite and guest accommodation below remain private.
We bought SARAH BELLE in Sweden, and then she steamed to Spain, which was a wonderful trip of about nine days. She handled beautifully, and when we crossed the Bay of Biscay, she held firm, only stopping in La Coruna, Spain, for crew rest. As we approached the Gibraltar Straits and neared our destination, Duquesa, it felt like she could have simply kept on going! We have since taken her to Gibraltar many times and been out on many cruises up and down the Spanish coast.
Whenever we have docked in a new port, she is always admired and commented upon! We love being out at sea, stabilisers on for an easy motion, knowing that she will safely take us anywhere. She cuts through the water, not over it. We also love the covered flybridge, which gives us an extra ‘room’ all year round, no matter the weather.
SARAH BELLE has proved perfect for two-handed cruising. Everything can be done from the pilothouse or from three other pilot stations (or indeed by using the remote Yacht Controller). We can plot our course, sit back, and let her do the work of getting us to our destination. The only time we wanted additional crew to join us was on the delivery trip from Sweden to Spain to allow for a program of watches during the passage. At all other times, we managed perfectly with just the two of us.
