The Hanse 588 is a well conceived fast cruising yacht that is superb for Mediterranean sailing. Hanse 588, MAGMA has a powerful rig, long waterline and well conceived sailplan with a self tacking jib for rewarding yet, short handed family sailing. She also has dedicated dinghy stowage in the transom and comes with a fantastic interior with large owners’ stateroom forward, two double guest cabins and an upper and lowe berth cabin too. The large hull portlights mean that light floods into the accommodation.
Easy to maintain with good access to onboard systems, she has thrusters bow and stern, a responsive spade rudder and powerful main engine.
MAGMA is being offered for sale as her owners have now purchased a larger yacht and she is being offered after a service period which has her ready for the new sailing season.
MAGMA is from 2017. She has proved herself to be a fast, safe and very comfortable cruising yacht. We have used her extensively as a family. Her layout works exceptionally well with children aboard and the upper and lower berth cabin is a great place for crew if you wish to have some help during your cruising programme.
The Judel Vrolijk design looks good from every angle and having dedicated dinghy stowage has been a real boon. It is big enough even for a Williams jet RIB as you wish. The fold down bathing platform makes her safe and easy to swim from and also for access to the dinghy. We have loved the large sailing cockpit which is a safe place for all the family. Because of the self-tacking jib arrangement and halyards led back to the twin helms, there is no need for anyone to leave the cockpit during sailing.
I enjoyed being able to grill fish and other food with a strong smell outside, and, when cooking inside, the open galley with the bar counter, which makes the process very convivial.
The tender’s stowage means its easy to store waterskies and water toys. As the mother of young kids, having a lifelines at the end of the stern reassured me greatly (and comfortable sitting there).
MAGMA has enthused us as a family with a desire to go further and spend more time on the water. We have therefore now purchased a larger yacht with space enough for us all to spend extended periods aboard. We will miss her great sailing and easy handling characteristics.
We have authorised a service period of MAGMA so that her new owner will be able to enjoy her this season.
