A very lightly used example of this well regarded model which Jeanneau have been building since 2014 and is considered their entry level cruiser. SASTA has been locally lightly cruised in the Solent and Plymouth harbour since her launch in 2023. She really is like stepping on board a new yacht.
SASTA is a 2 cabin version allowing for a perfect amount of accommodation, large heads and ample storage. She is also a deeper draft version, drawing 1.8m and with twin rudders she sails very well. Easily handled by 1 or 2 as everything is easy to reach from the cockpit with twin wheels.
Her warranty is still valid until the middle of 2025. She has all the kit you need to head off cruising and is ready to go.
After selling my Oyster 575, I was looking for a change of pace – something I could easily handle solo and use to introduce my 12-year-old son to the joys of sailing. Enter the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349, and what a delightful surprise she’s been!
First impressions? Despite her compact size, SASTA feels remarkably stable and capable on the water. There is a lot packed into her 33 feet. The intelligent space planning makes her feel much larger than her dimensions suggest – a sentiment echoed by less sailing minded friends who’ve compared the interior volume favourably to my previous 58 foot Oyster!
One of the standout features is her manoeuvrability. With twin rudders and a deeper 1.8m draft, SASTA handles like a dream, especially in tighter spaces. The twin wheel setup is a real boon, offering great visibility and easy access to all controls from the helm – perfect for single-handed sailing and for teaching my son the basics
I’ve been consistently impressed by her sailing performance. The 349 is an entry-level cruiser, but don’t let that fool you – she sails beautifully. Whether we’re cruising in the Solent or out in a chop in the channel, SASTA has proven to be responsive, fast, and most importantly, a lot of fun to sail.
The interior works brilliantly. The two-cabin layout offers just the right amount of accommodation for my needs, with a surprisingly spacious head and very ample storage. The one-level interior with no door sills is a nice touch, making movement below deck smooth and easy and I am a smidge under 6 foot.
For those considering a step up to yacht ownership or looking to downsize, I can’t recommend the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349 enough. SASTA has been a joy to own, and she’s still in pristine condition – practically new, in fact!
While I’m sad to part with her due to an upcoming relocation abroad, I know that her new owner will enjoy her hugely. She’s totally plug and play, whether that’s comfortable coastal cruising or more ambitious passages . I doubt you will find a better yacht for the money, and the sailing and handling is very rewarding.
