Beautifully maintained Legacy 28, which has received a lot of care and attention in recent years, reflecting the true cost of ownership. The Yanmar 315HP engine was removed two years ago, fully serviced, and all ancillaries—including the timing belt, injectors, turbo, elbow, and engine pan—were replaced. The engine was then repainted and reinstalled.

Electronics were upgraded in 2017 with a Garmin 12-inch plotter, autopilot, and digital radar. A Fusion stereo was also installed in 2017. The boat is equipped with a bow thruster for easy docking. The beige canvas is in good condition, and the cockpit upholstery and interior fabrics are a stylish sage green. The varnish on the exterior wood is in excellent condition and was redone last winter. The stainless-steel windshield features an electrically opening middle pane, and the radar arch is also stainless steel.

The interior includes a galley on the port side with refrigeration and a sink, along with an enclosed head to starboard. Forward is a V-berth. A few steps up to the helm deck, which has a helmsman and copilot seat, each with cushions and varnished wood slat backrests. Next aft are two longitudinal settees with engine access in between and lockers underneath. The rear cockpit has an upholstered bench seat across the back, a removable cockpit table, and an access door leading to the teak slat swim platform.

The Legacy 28 is a popular Down East-style express cruiser, built by Freedom Yachts in Middletown, RI. The hull is constructed using the SCRIMP-infused process and features a robust rub rail and teak toerail. The side decks and stainless-steel bow rail allow safe movement to the bow area. Forward, there is an anchor windlass with an anchor stowed on a bow roller.

LIVING THE DREAM is likely the best Legacy 28 available today and is sensibly priced.
