Broker’s Comments

We have known this Swan 46 since she arrived in the U.S. from her original Swedish owner in the early ’90s. She has had three New England-based owners since then, all of whom have lavished care and continual updates to maintain her to the highest Swan standard. For the majority of her life, she has been stored indoors during winter months, and as a result, she is in excellent condition both inside and out.

Over the years, she has received a new teak deck, a new engine, a hull paint job, and, more recently, a Leisure Furl furling boom and a new North 3Di main. Even the leather on the wheel has been replaced recently. Aegir’s 5’7” draft makes her ideal for the Bahamas, and her Swan pedigree clearly shines through in her sailing ability; she is simply a pleasure to sail in all conditions.

AEgir features the standard Swan 46 interior, which includes an aft cabin with both double and single beds, with the second companionway between them. There is a second stateroom in the bow with an offset double berth to port and fold-down pipe cot above. There are two heads, one forward and one aft, each with vanity sinks and handheld showers.

The galley, equipped with a Force 10 stove and a Frigoboat fridge and freezer, is located along the port side aft, next to the engine box, with a decent-sized chart table opposite to starboard. The main saloon features a U-shaped, leather-upholstered settee to port with a pilot berth outboard, and a straight settee to starboard with lockers above. A drop-leaf table is located on the centreline.

Electronics are by B&G, with Garmin plotters, ICOM VHF and SSB, and a Mastervolt inverter/charger.

On deck, there are fitted cushions for the cockpit and bridge deck, a bimini with solar panels, and double dodgers. The rig is Nautor’s bulletproof 2-spreader aluminium rig, with a recent Leisure Furl furling boom and furling headsail.

The Swan 46 is the second most popular Swan model ever built, with 108 boats produced over a long 15-year run between 1983 and 1998. An enduringly beautiful Frers design, she boasts legendary build quality and sailing characteristics, simply not found in modern-day boats. An apt car analogy would be a Rolls Royce in fit and finish, and a Mercedes in technical precision. We have seen many Swan 46s, and we strongly believe Aegir to be one of the nicest and consistently best maintained Swan 46’s on the market today.
