The Nautor Swan 48 is an iconic design from the Frers stable – very good-looking and not extreme in any direction. These yachts came in various guises, with ASSUAGE being the sportiest of them, featuring a tall carbon mast and a deep regatta keel, though not excessively deep by modern standards at 2.94 meters.
ASSUAGE remains a highly competitive yacht, having been well-placed in the various regattas she has competed in over the past few years under her current ownership, adding to her vast collection of trophies since her launch. Her unique selling point is that she can comfortably cruise between regattas while remaining competitive without requiring extensive modifications.
In her current ownership, she was purchased through Berthon and underwent a major refit at Berthon HQ, which included many system updates and servicing. A new teak deck was fitted, and a few years later, a new set of North’s exceptional 3Di Endurance sails were purchased. These sails are still in excellent condition, with many years of use left in them.
She is in great shape for her age, with all the major maintenance items addressed and ready for her next owner to enjoy fast, comfortable, and safe passages, as well as some fun on the racecourse with a few trophies thrown in.
Easy on the eye and a competitive racer/cruiser, Assuage has won Swan Worlds and Europeans in her early life and comes with a carbon rig and a suite of North Sails. Swan aficionados argue that the deep keel Regatta version of Swan 48 is one of Nautor’s best all-round yachts and built in their heyday in 1996.
On transatlantic passages, Assuage easily ticks off 200+ mile days. When cruising she is a delight to handle.
In the owners cabin she has a centre line queen size bed, accessible from both sides. She has a very efficient freezer and fridge compressor as well as high pressure showers. The galley design works well at sea and benefits from a 100 litres/hour SeaFresh water maker.
She has an extensive wardrobe of North Sails, fully battened racing main (2021) with number 2 (2022) and battened number 3 (2023) in 3Di Endurance – the Cruising main is North (2016 Nordac) utilising heavy duty Ronstan ball slide bearing/s and a Cruising Number 3 (2023) with a single reef capability. She has several North symmetric spinnakers (number 1 plus 2 and 4) as well as a (2022) North A3 asymmetric.
