Nautor reinvigorated the market for a quality, sub-50 ft sporty cruising yacht with the Swan 48 – which could be raced as well as cruised comfortably shorthanded, with enough space for family and friends. The model remained traditional in layout but added elements of luxury and quality that made it stand out from its peers, which opted for cloned light oak interiors with little consideration for a luxurious feel or tactile finish.
MIA has a sumptuous interior with royal blue fabric panels, leather highlights, and surfaces accented with walnut tones and light wall panelling used to great effect. She certainly is not the average white boat.
On deck, the attention to detail is also obvious, with a white and neutral palette on the hydraulic cylinders, mast, boom, electric winches, wheels, and more. The attention to detail is excellent.
Her carbon mast is well paired with the Park Avenue boom, which holds the mainsail cover within a track, with a separate sun awning track outboard.
Above deck, MIA has full teak in excellent condition and only lightly worn. Her Selden Carron mast is in excellent condition and holds the Antal ball bearing mainsail luff cars. The full carbon Park Avenue boom makes cruising very easy. The port first spreader holds a thermal imaging camera which is tied to the B&G chart plotter, a useful safety tool that provides another viewpoint. The B&G system is also upgraded to the highest level with a fish finder and is suitable for grand prix racing if desired.
The cockpit is very well protected. An American-style large sprayhood fits into a recess with a teak cover when not in use. She also has a dedicated bimini with in-deck mounting brackets as well as an overall sun awning that attaches to dedicated tracks inside the boom. In addition to all this canvas, she has an overall winter cover that sits over the whole yacht and keeps the weather off the deck.
Her systems are excellent. She does not have air-conditioning or a generator, keeping the yacht’s systems amazingly simple and the yacht as light as possible for performance and fun.
MIA recently underwent a full check of the yacht structure by QI Composites, the world’s leading ultrasound specialists. This was due to an unfortunate grounding in 2022 on a sandy beach after a freak storm in Corsica. A full ultrasound of the yacht was undertaken, and only a small amount of damage was found in the mast, which has been completely repaired under Nautor Swan’s care, and she has a full and clean bill of health.
She has been used by the owner and family since new and is now only for sale due to the purchase of a larger yacht. She is ready for her next owner.
Name to be retained by vendor.
