This Swan 56 has been one of our favorite boats since our office sold and built her with the first owner. She has always been very well maintained and loved, sailed back and forth to the Caribbean and New England often, and participating in various offshore racing and cruising events, such as the Bermuda Race. In the 2024 Bermuda race, she was first overall in Division 3 (cruising) and second overall in the Cruising Division. This just shows how the Swan 56 is truly a racer/cruiser design, as she can easily do both, and sailed with family and friends, not professional crew! Her carbon rig just adds to her performance capabilities, and the double companionway is such a good safety feature offshore. Great electronics package, and of course, lots of updated equipment.

Owner’s Comments

Having just sold our Baltic 42 and being particularly fond of Finnish-built yachts, our goal was to find a Swan that would fit the needs of family and friends. TRAMONTANA was the perfect choice and finding her in New England made it even better.

Initially, we planned to participate in the 2020 Newport to Bermuda race, but of course, COVID hit, and everything changed. Her first outing was at the Swan Regatta in Newport in 2019. For the summers of 2020 and 2021, we cruised the Newport-to-Maine area while continually upgrading her. Before heading to the Caribbean for the winter seasons of 2021-22 and 2022-23, we took her to Jamestown Boat Yard to ensure she was in top shape. Being proactive owners, we made sure that whatever needed to be done was taken care of. We didn’t want anything to interrupt our cruising plans through the BVI, USVI, Anguilla, St. Barths, and St. Martin, along with racing in the Heineken Regatta in spring 2023 before heading back to Marblehead, MA.

We usually participate in events like the NYYC Annual Regatta and the Around the Island Race. TRAMONTANA is a true cruiser/racer, equipped with all the creature comforts, a high-performance carbon rig, and an excellent sail package.
