Nautor Swan 61, CONCERTO

The Nautor Swan 61 was the first yacht Nautor built with single central cockpit and that was conceived primarily for cruising. She is a true world cruiser and yet retains the excellent sailing performance characteristics designed into this hull by German Frers – it is the same hull lines as the Swan 59.

CONCERTO is a unique Swan, not only in that she was built to cruise, but with her individual set up, on deck and below decks. She has the standard fixed keel with draft of 3.1m for improved sailing (some other 61’s had centreboard or shallow draft keel). For easy sailing she has hydraulic in mast furling mainsail and hydraulic furling to genoa and staysail, as well as electric sheet winches. Below decks the layout was customised at build to provide five cabins and three head / shower areas.

The vessel is hull number eleven of the Swan 61 series (of fourteen) and is clearly well maintained.

We believe she is in her fourth ownership. Originally named LA REVERENDE she was built for charter and was sailed in the Nautor Swan charter fleet in the Caribbean in her early years. In 1995 she suffered some minor damage in a hurricane and was sold to an American, taken back to Annapolis in the USA and repaired and refitted.

She was subsequently sold to a Norwegian (via the team that are now Berthon USA), she was in spectacular condition and surveyed by a Nautor factory rep. The new owner sailed the yacht to Europe and made further upgrades in a refit at A. Walsteds Boatyard in Denmark in preparation for a world cruise. The world circumnavigation was made and in summer 2001 I saw the yacht was back in Palma. That winter she went to Finland for a refit at Yxpila Shipyard that specialises in Swan yachts. She had new teak decks, full paint of the yacht and spars and refinishing of the underwater hull.

After some further years sailing in Scandinavia the yacht was sold 2006 to her current, also Norwegian owner. He sailed her in Scandinavia until 2012 when he sailed her down to Italy and based her at Marina di Scarlino and kept her there until 2017. Every winter in Scarlino she was stored on land at the yard (with a cover). The yard disassembled the whole rig in 2015 and painted the mast. The yacht attended the Rolex Swan Cup in 2016 for their 50th year anniversary. Then she was sailed back to Norway again.

Since then, she has sailed in Scandinavia each summer and has wintered ashore in Henan, Sweden (where she is today – in a heated shed with her mast out).

October 2024 the yacht had a new Dometic air conditioning system installed in the saloon. In 2024 she also had a new genoa from Far East sails (as yet unpacked and unused!) and an earlier Elvstrom genoa (but also never used). In 2023 she had a new autopilot and chart plotters.

CONCERTO sails under Norwegian flag. VAT is not paid.

Owner’s Comments

I have been racing sailboats my whole life and wanted to have a fast, reliable holiday cruiser myself. I fell in love with CONCERTO the first time I stepped aboard, and I never regretted the decision of buying her.

We have mostly used her for holiday sailing with family and friends in the Scandinavian waters in addition to 5 years in the Mediterranean. I have sailed many hundred miles just myself because she is so easy to manage under any conditions.

CONCERTO is a fantastic long-range cruiser; she functions very well under sail and is comfortable to live aboard. The design of the galley is very practical for use in any conditions, and the aft cabin is exceptionally spacious and comfortable.

Sadly, we had to make the decision to sell her, due to family circumstances and health issues.
