Ocean 80 Schooner, ARROW OF AYR was built as TABOO to brilliant designs by Doug Petersen, built in the Channel Islands and fitted out by her first owners. She has a great layout for serious bluewater cruising and a fantastic schooner rig which looks brilliant and makes her easily handled without many crew. She has never had a teak deck, and this hugely reduces external maintenance.

ARROW was recently refitted by her current owners in Trinidad in 2022, including a full review of the rig, but their plans have changed so she needs to find a new owner. She is a fantastic platform for bluewater cruising, great value, elegant, powerful and she has masses of potential. Her hull and superstructure livery looks splendid.

Owner’s Comments

ARROW OF AYR is a strongly built pedigree bluewater cruising yacht, with a proven track record of round-the-world performance demonstrated by her sister yachts. Although she has never raced, she has enjoyed a successful career as a charter yacht in the Caribbean. Her living and sailing space planning is comfortable and well-conceived.

Built in Guernsey in 1995 under the guidance of naval architect David Alan Williams and her previous owner—who had extensive experience chartering an Ocean 60 in the BVI—ARROW was designed for both performance and comfort.

In her current ownership, ARROW cruised the Caribbean before crossing the Atlantic to explore the Mediterranean. She is an elegant yacht with excellent sailing capabilities and terrific deck space. Her schooner rig makes her easy to handle. She is much admired wherever she goes.

ARROW is currently owned by a small group of sailing enthusiasts who have enjoyed owning her and exploring both the Caribbean and the Mediterranean immensely. However, with many now in their 80s, the decision has been made to put her on the market. The owners hope to follow the next chapter in ARROW’s life when she finds her new owners.
