Broker’s Comments

The Oyster 62 is an iconic bluewater cruising yacht. They offer potential for safe passage making in comfort and are an excellent choice for anyone contemplating some serious sailing.

IXION is Oyster 62-008, built at Southampton Yacht Services Ltd for Oyster. She has had several good owners. She was previously skipper maintained and MCA classified for charter. She was upgraded substantially throughout, at Southampton Yacht Services in the spring of 2010. She has also completed a £45,000 pit stop at Southampton Yacht Services in 2011.

She was purchased in 2019 by her current owner. She was substantially refitted and upgraded for private use and easy sailing without crew. Works done in 2020-21 included:

  • Overhaul of mainsail furling system.
  • Mast out and rig service.
  • New hydraulic Reckmann furlers for genoa and staysail.
  • New Raymarine instruments.

Other maintenance & works in the 2020-25 period include:

  • Refit of bowthruster.
  • New cockpit fridge.
  • New washing machine.
  • New icemaker.
  • New dishwasher.
  • Cooker refitted.
  • Air conditioning / heating system overhauled.
  • All systems checked, serviced, repaired etc.
  • Annual haul-outs with antifouling.
  • Bilges painted.
  • New insulation at the engine room.
  • Overhaul of the water chest and inlets.
  • New service batteries – June 2024.
  • New pumps – July 2024.
  • New generator – March 2025.
