The Southerly 135 caters to those who want to sail where they please and was designed for easy handling. The unique lifting keel offers a deeper draft than most, she sails confidently offshore and can cruise the shallows, allowing her to tuck into those special little anchorages that few boats of this size can reach.
YAHOOO represents an opportunity to purchase a very special, well-equipped, and recently upgraded example of the desirable Southerly 135. She was chosen by her current owners for long range cruising and down below there is plenty of space and accommodation. With two cabins and two heads she can sleep six people comfortably. There is lovely teak joinery throughout, abundant natural light and the deck saloon windows offer excellent visibility from the raised galley and navigation station.
On deck the Southerly 135 can be easily sailed by two people. Halyard and reefing lines are fed back through the coach roof and the self-tailing winches are positioned within the cockpit for easy handling. The large centre cockpit with ample stowage, is designed with both safety and comfort in mind.
YAHOOO has been built and further upgraded to be an offshore and coastal cruiser capable of any destination, both deep and shallow water. She is just as comfortable in ocean crossings as she is at anchor a few hundred yards offshore any beach, anywhere in the world.
YAHOOO has travelled from the US through to Europe, to Iceland and back in weathers from 0 to 60 knots, winters, and summer times. She has always been safe and comfortable and easily sailed by a single person. The hydraulic lifting keel ensures she is equally safe and comfortable anchored in shallow water bays, or just off the beach on an island shelf, as a deep-water passage. The lifting keel also allows her to sail at speed downwind when raised and point well into the wind when deployed. Maintenance has been carefully done through my ownership and she has been upgraded to keep her as up to date as possible. The keel was dropped in 2022, sandblasted, new pennant, and all standing rigging replaced. The nav system was replaced in 2023.
